However, the findings of researchers from the University of Hamburg in Germany is known to focus on positive thoughts and live today, can help a person maintain his mental health. This is rather than looking too far into the future.

According to Drs. Stefanie Brassens, author of the study, aging of the ‘success’ comes from the positive effects. “Trends and positively biased preferences, will be a rewarding emotional experience,” he said as quoted by the Telegraph.co.uk.

To prove this, Dr. Brassens and his team conducted experiments. By looking at the faces of young people and older with various expressions, such as happy faces, sad, fearful or neutral.

In some experiments respondents are asked to be more relaxed. From the records, older respondents show a happier face.

By scanning the brains of respondents, researchers found increased activity in rostral anterior cingulate cortex, parts of the brain that controls emotions. The high level of activity in this brain area, associated with good mental health.

Conclusion of a study published in the Journal of Biological Psychiatry suggests, remain happy and focus on positive thoughts is the key to mental health. With good mental health, the appearance will be brighter and younger.

 Strawberries

Strawberries

Behind the red color and beautiful shape and the sour taste of fresh, has the benefit strawberries can prevent aging and cancer. A study showed that consumption of strawberries helps increase levels of antioxidants in the blood.

As quoted by the Daily Mail website, the high levels of antioxidants in strawberries has been found to be useful to combat the effects of oxidative stress, reducing the effects of aging and even the possibility of contracting diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Spanish and Italian researchers in a study involving 12 volunteers in good health. They were asked to consume a pound of strawberries for two weeks.

After four, eight, 12 and 16 days ago next month, the volunteers’ blood samples were taken for examination. Having studied and the results published in the journal Chemistry, scientists concluded, eating strawberries regularly can increase antioxidant levels in the blood and also helps prevent red blood cells have hemolysis or red blood cell breakdown process.

Scientists from the University of Marche in Italy and the University of Granada in Spain said, strawberries strength lies in the high content of phenolic compounds, which have antioxidant properties.

According to the researchers, the high content of phenolic compounds is able to alleviate oxidative stress that may occur with increasing age, while exercising or even after childbirth.

Study author Dr. Maurizio Battino, from the Polytechnic University of Marche said: “We have shown that some varieties of strawberries to make erythrocytes more resistant to oxidative stress.

“It could be very important when you consider that this phenomenon can cause serious illness. But most important is the strawberries should be part of a healthy and balanced diet, as one of five servings of fruits and vegetables must be consumed every day.

They also plan to investigate whether similar benefits can be gained after eating more strawberries, such as 150g or 200g, and also want to look at the varieties of strawberries that contain the highest antioxidant.

Dr. Jose Luis Quiles, University of Granada added: “Different varieties of strawberries are also being analyzed in the laboratory, because they each contain antioxidants in amounts and different proportions. For the body has a mechanism to process a very wide range of antioxidants, which work at a level different in each individual.

“It can be a tool that repair oxidized genetic material, or both molecules produced by the body itself or consumed through the diet, which neutralize free radicals,” the researchers said.

Strawberries contain large amounts of phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties.
